Annual, small fleshy papillose herbs. Stems short, simple or branching from base. Leaves opposite, sessile, very fleshy, semicylindrical, the upper ones decurrent. Flowers terminal, axillary, solitary or in loose cymes. Calyx with subequal conical lobes. Ovary half-inferior, 4-5-celled. Capsule 4-5 celled, opening by 4-5 valves. Seeds small, many.
