Perennial hairy herbs. Leaves opposite, small, exstipulate. Bracts leaf-like. Pedicels as long as or shorter than calyx. Flowers small, hermaphrodite. Calyx tubular, penta-gonous, with 5-ribbed tube membranous between ribs and with 5 small teeth. Petals cuneate, with spreading limb and long, finely winged claw constricted at top. Stamens 10. Ovary 1-celled, many-ovuled; styles 2, stigmatose all along the inner surface. Cap-sule oblong-ovoid or cylindrical to urceolate, dehiscent by 4 teeth. Seeds comma-shaped.
