Perennial rigid plants with very thin branches. Leaves opposite, soon deciduous, linear, exstipulate. Inflorescences dichasial, loose, paniculate. Bracts membranous. Calyx cy¬lindrical, 5-nerved, membranous between nerves; teeth small. Petals 5, inserted on the upper margin of a cup-like disk, with long, naked claw and deeply 3-5-parted limb. Stamens 10, exserted. Ovary 1-celled, with 8-10 long-funicled ovules; styles 2, long. Capsule 1-celled, ovoid, 4-valved, irregularly dehiscent. Seeds 1-3, reniform-globular, wrinkled-granulate.
