General/Distribution: 5-6 species in the Old World, mostly in Asia. Of somewhat uncertain generic affinity.

Robust, aromatic, herbaceous or shrubby perennials. Leaves not divided, with an indumentum of eglandular hairs, crenate to dentate, long petiolate. Inflorescence of numerous many-flowered shortly pedunculate verticillasters, the lowermost borne in the axils of the upper leaves. Calyx not bilabiate, ovoid-tubular, ± equally 5-toothed, 10-nerved; tube internally pilose. Corolla bilabiate; tube included in calyx, annulate; upper lip straight, narrow, entire; lower lip 3-lobed, spreading. Stamens 4, exserted, didynamous; filaments united; posterior stamens with unilocular thecae, anterior bilocular. Style ± equally bifid. Nutlets glossy, not or scarcely trigonous, apically rounded.
