Ecology: Montane forest; partly to fully shaded sites, on logs in association with Plagiomnium rhynchophorum, and on soil banks, probably epiphytic also. Elevation: 2420-3200 m (Colombia: 2500-3200 m, Peru: 2420 m). Distribution: Endemic to the tropical Andes.
Ecología: Bosque montano; en lugares parcial a completamente sombreados, sobre leños en asociación con Plagiomnium rhynchophorum, y sobre bancos de suelo. Elevación: 2420-3200 m (Colombia: 2500-3200, Perú: 2420 m). Distribución: Endémica.
Synonyms likely include Eriopus mniadelphus Spruce ex Mitt. and E. ulianus Müll. Hal. The Ramírez P. collection from Nariño exhibited considerable variation, the leaves ranged in shape to narrowly oblong-lanceolate to obovate-lanceolate, and the setae were hispid to near smooth in at least in the few sporophytes observed.
