Ecology: Semi-humid and humid puna; on soil and boulders. Elevation: 4330-4800 m. Distribution: Endemic to the tropical Andes (Bolivia).
Camptodontium fallax is characterized by weakly vertically striate, possibly papillose peristome. Originally described as Dicranoweisia fallax Herzog, this species is based on syntypes from Tunarisee (department of Cochabamba) and between Hochtal and Viloco (department of La Paz).
