Bryum soboliferum is characterized by the lanceolate to oblong-lanceolate leaves (to 2 mm long), gradually long acuminate apex, recurved margin below, weak border (1 row of linear cells), and subpercurrent costa. The distinctive feature is the leaf apex. In Peru this species occurs at higher eleavation (3600-4400 m).
 
Bryum soboliferum se caracteriza por tener las hojas lanceoladas a oblongo-lanceoladas (hasta 2 mm de largo), ápices gradualmente largo acuminados, márgenes recurvados en la porción basal, borde débil (1 fila de células lineares) y costa subpercurrente. La característica más distintiva es el ápice de la hoja. En Perú esta especie se encuentra a grandes altitudes (3600-4400 m).
