Ecology: Montane forest to semi-humid and humid puna; on soil and rocks, probably associated with streams, bogs and ponds. Elevation: 1900-4350 m. Distribution: Endemic to the tropical Andes (Bolivia).

Brachythecium calliergonoides is characterized by long, slender leafy stems, smooth (not plicate), ovate-lanceolate leaves to 2.5 mm long, long acuminate, half twisted apex, entire margins, and weakly spurred costa ending at midleaf (McFarland 1988).
