Acidodontium subrotundum is characterized by the rather strongly crispate (when dry), oblong leaves to 2 mm, short acuminate apices, reflexed to recurved margins from mid leaf to base, distally entire or crenulate, long excurrent apices, small hexagonal to rhomboidal upper median cells, slender seta to 35 mm, pyriforme capsules to 3 mm with short or inconspicuous neck, sub-hemispheric, apiculate operculum. Bryum taylorii Müll. Hal. is a synonym.
