Ecology: Montane forest; on leaf litter, logs, humus, trunk and branches of treelets and trees. Elevation: 1230-3170 m (Venezuela: 3170 m, Colombia: 1780-2900 m, Ecuador: 1230-3080 m, Peru: 2000 m, Bolivia: 1600-1700 m). Distribution: Central America (Costa Rica, Panama) and tropical Andes.
Ecología: Bosques montanos; sobre hojarasca, leños, humus, tronco y ramas de arbolillos y árboles. Elevación: 1230-3170 m (Venezuela: 3170 m, Colombia: 1780-2900 m, Ecuador: 1230-3080 m, Perú: 2000 m, Bolivia: 1600-1700 m). Distribución: Centroamérica (Costa Rica, Panamá) y Andes tropicales.
Brachymitrion moritzianum is distinguished from the other members of the genus by the unbordered leaf margins, and from all other members of the family present in Bolivia by the ciliate leaf margins. Synonyms include Tayloria lindigiana Müll. Hal. nom. nud. And T. mayorii Broth. & Irmsch. in Irmsch.
Brachymitrion moritzianum se distingue de los otros miembros del género por tener los márgenes de las hojas sin borde, y de los otros miembros de la familia presentes en Bolivia por las hojas con márgenes ciliados.
