Notes:
Ecology: Premontane to low montane forest; on trunk and branches of trees. Elevation: 750-1400 m (Ecuador: 850-1400 m, Peru: 750-900 m). Distribution: Endemic to the tropical Andes (Ecuador and Peru).

Plants rather small, forming dense mats. Stems, to 4 cm long, few branched, creeping to subascending distally. Leaves crowded, homomallous, erect-spreading, narrowly oblong-lanceolate, 1.9-2.4 mm long, concave, weakly plicate, acuminate; margins strongly recurved below acumen, entire; costa absent; apical cells oblong-oval, weakly porose; median and lower cells oblong- to fusiform linear, strongly porose; alar region differentiated, 1 row of inflated cells, oblong to oval, thick-walled, porose; supra-alar cells subquadrate to short rectangular. Autoicous. Perichaetia rather numerously distributed along one side of stem; leaves lanceolate-subulate. Setae short, ca. 1 mm long, smooth. Capsules erect, urn ovoid, ca. 1 mm long; stomata at urn base; annulus absent; opercula, conic-short rostrate; peristome single, exostome somewhat reduced, teeth 16, set apart at base, margins with a faint, rather broad hyaline border, smooth below, tips papillose; endostome absent. Calyptrae cucullate, smooth or somewhat roughened, naked. Spores spherical, finely papillose.
 
Plantas algo pequeñas en tapices densos. Tallos, hasta 4 cm de largo, poco ramificados, reptantes a subascendentes distalmente. Hojas apretadas, homómalas, erecto-extendidas, angostamente oblongo-lanceoladas, 1.9-2.4 mm de largo, cóncavas, levemente plicadas, acuminadas; márgenes fuertemente recurvados debajo del acumen, enteros; costa ausente; células apicales oblongo-ovales, levemente porosas; células mediales e inferiores oblongo- a fusiforme-lineares, fuertemente porosas; región alar diferenciada, 1 hilera de células infladas, oblongas a ovales, con paredes gruesas, porosas; células supra-alares subcuadradas a corto rectangulares. Autoicas. Periquecios distribuidos más bien numerosamente a lo largo de uno de los lados del tallo; hojas lanceolado-subuladas. Setas cortas, aprox. 1 mm de largo, lisas. Cápsulas erectas, urna ovoide, aprox. 1 mm de largo; estomas en la base de la urna; anillo ausente; opérculo, cónico-corto rostrado; peristoma simple, exostoma algo reducido, dientes 16, insertos aparte en la base, márgenes con un leve borde hialino, algo ancho, liso abajo, extremos papilosos; endostoma ausente. Caliptra cuculada, lisa o algo rugosa, desnuda. Esporas esféricas, finamente papilosas.
