Notes:
A monospecific neotropical genus, Puiggariopsis may possibly be confused with Mittenothamnium or Ctenidium but neither of these genera exhibit leaves that are strongly plicate, and lack alar cells that are both thick-walled and porose. The report of Puiggariopsis from Peru is based on a specimen of Mittenothamnium.
