The Myriniaceae contains about six genera and fewer than 30 species mostly of the tropics, extending somewhat into the temperate regions; in the Neotropics three genera and seven species. The family was emended and expanded by Buck and Crum (1978) with further refinements provided by Buck (1980).
La familia Myriniaceae contiene aprox. seis géneros y menos de 30 especies distribuidas generalmente en los trópicos, extendiéndose un poco en regiones templadas; en el Neotrópico hay tres géneros y siete especies. La familia fue revisada y ampliada por Buck y Crum (1978) con refinamientos adicionales realizados por Buck (1980).
