The Fabroniaceae contain 5-6 genera and fewer than 100 species, probably closer to 50 or less, widely distributed in temperate and tropical regions; in the Neotropics with two genera and six species. The family is placed in the order Hypnales.
 
Fabroniaceae contiene 5-6 géneros y menos de 100 especie, probablemente cerca de 50 o menos, está ampliamente distribuida en regiones templadas y tropicales; en el Neotrópico con dos géneros y seis especies. La familia está localizada en el orden Hypnales.
