Notes:
Dolotortula, previously placed in Tortula, is a monotypic genus confined to the Neotropics. The genus is distinguished by the obtuse-rounded, spathulate leaves with a strong, multistratose border and large upper laminal cells. Gametophytically, the Mniaceae is rather similar to Dolotortula however this genus exhibits a combination of features, e.g., multistratose and subentire or entire margins that is only found in Mnium.
