Notes:

Rhizogonium, in the strict sense, contains about 10-15 species, primarily distributed in Australasia; a single species in the Neotropics, Rhizogonium novae-hollandiae (Brid.) Brid. Features aiding in the identification of this species include the small statured, pale green, soft plants, ovate to broadly elliptical, 2-ranked leaves along stem, distinctly single toothed margins near apex, smooth, short excurrent costa; and isodiametric laminal cells that appear slightly bulging.
