Notoligotrichum contains about 10 species of the Southern Hemisphere; two species in the Neotropics. In the tropical Andes a single species is present, N trichodon (Hook. f. & Wilson) G.L. Sm. Previously placed in the genus Psilopilum. The genus is characterized by 32 hyaline, reduced peristome teeth and the sparsely hairy tipped calyptra.


Notoligotrichum contiene ca. 10 especies en el hemisferio sur; dos especie en el Neotrópico. En Andes tropicales sólo una especie ha sido registrada, N trichodon (Hook. f. & Wilson) G.L. Sm. Previamente fue localizada  en el género Psilopilum. Este género se caracteriza por presentar 32 dientes del peristoma hialinos y reducidos, y caliptra en punta escasamente pelosa.
