Herpetineuron is monospecific, characterized by erect secondary stems, leaves with a narrowly acute apex and irregularly serrate margins, a distally flexuose costa, and smooth laminal cells. The flagellate-attenuate branches, present in the Bolivian collections, are the likely means of reproduction.

 

Este es un género monoespecífico, Herpetineuron toccoae (Sull. & Lesq.) Cardot. Esta especie se caracteriza por presentar tallos secundarios erectos, hojas con ápices angostamente agudos y márgenes irregularmente serrados, costa distalmente flexuosa y células de la lámina lisas. Las ramas flageladas atenuadas presentes en las colecciones de Bolivia, probablemente sean medios de reproducción.
