general taxon notes:

An Andean monospecific genus, presently known from Venezuela and Bolivia, to be expected in Colombia south through Peru in the high montane transition to shrubby subpáramo and moist puna. In aspect Callicostellopsis is somewhat similar to Cyclodictyon in the rather lax habit, however the latter exhibits a marginal leaf border, smooth laminal cells, and sporophytically the seta is usually smooth, with the exostome furrowed and cross-striate. The genus was briefly discussed and illustrated by Churchill and Linares C. (1995).
